Paul Goldschmidt Unloads In the Bottom Of the 9th

With the Diamondbacks trailing the Astros for most the game Goldschmidt came to the plate with a runner on first he was able to tie the game with a 2 run home run in the bottom of the 9th. This Diamondback team has made a huge turn around over what they did last season. It definitely helps when your coaches can relate to some of the players who might be struggling at one point in the season.

Chris Young eventually walked it off with a three run home run in the bottom of the 10th off Astor’s reliever Jeff Fulchino. Right now the Diamondbacks are in first place and 1 game ahead of the San Fransisco Giants. You could look at their roster and say they are over achieving, but maybe they aren’t. Kirk Gibson deserves at least some talk for Coach of the Year.

Goldschmidt was playing in the Futures Game not to long ago and now he is hitting  homers in the bigs. After the season is over or after the trade deadline is over he could move into the starting first baseman role.

They could call up top pitching prospect Jarrod Parker and put him in the bull pen.  The Dbacks have a lot of quality pieces in the minors so they are built going into the future. Kevin Towers also deserves some love for the GM of the year, the team he took over was pretty bad just last season.
